Topsy Turvy

A couple months ago, my hubby and I bought a topsy turvy at Home Depot. They're only $10. Plus you have to buy soil and tomato plant. Total cost, around $20 for everything. We are so excited to be growing our own tomatoes. So, yesterday we went to check on the plant, and we have tomatoes growing! They're still very little, but I am so excited that something I "planted" is growing. Yay!!!! Next time I want to try basil. :)

Some recent thoughts....

M and I planned for a while to have a baby. Before we even got pregnant, there were some things that had to happen. We wanted a house, done! We wanted to be done with car payments, done! The main thing, we wanted me to stay at home with the baby. That was a harder one, but the Lord provided. I went through almost 2 years of crying and praying for a baby, but it was never the right time. Then one day, everything fell into place and God let us know that the time had come. We got pregnant as soon as we started trying, which was awesome! Then after 9 long months of waiting and preparing, we were completely blessed. And now we are hopelessly in love with our beautiful girl. She is so amazing, and I am constantly in awe of how much love I can possibly have for her. I still can't believe how God chose to bless us with this amazing child! We just can't get enough of her! We love parenthood and could never in a billion years have guessed how truly amazing and eye opening this experience is. We plan on having more children, someday... But for now, we love being a family of 3. These last 6 months with S has been, just amazing. There are no words. This small child has taught me so much about myself, God and so much more....

Show us where you live

I love Kelly's blog!!! She does this tour every friday to show where you live. I finally decided to join and today is the Dining room day. I have to say, my favorite room of my house is my dining room! Why?! Because it's my 2 favorite colors, black and white. Now please keep in mind, this room is still a work in progress... :) Nevertheless, I still love it!! I also want to take a brief second to say that I love my house! It was built in 1933 and still has many of the original features that I fell in love with, like the floors, doorknobs and much more...

This is the dining room as seen from the kitchen. Can I just say I love my French Doors!!! We got our table from Ashleys and I fell in love with it because it's so different. I loved the barstools and the height of the table. As I've mentioned before, I love black and white, so I've chosen those colors as the decor for this room (among the kitchen and bathroom as well)... The drapes will soon be replaced, but I haven't had time or desire to make them yet. lol I've also had to add the pack and play to the room because a very cute little girl needs somewhere to play. :)

This is the view from the living room. You can see behind the French door is a coat rack. My brother in law made that for me as a gift. I love it!!! And I bought that shelf in an antique shop!

My favorite part of the room, the buffet. I got those tall black vases from my mother in law. And the big bowl a friend of mine gave me. I put some more family pictures on the bottom shelf along with a tea cup someone gave me. And my favorite part, the painting. An original Michael Regina (my hubby). He painted it right before we got married, with the intention of selling it, but I claimed it and it is forbidden to leave my house. I LOVE that painting...

Here's a corner of the room. We had this armoire in the garage, my wonderful hubby stained it to match the room and we use it as a pantry (our small kitchen does not have one). On top, another Michael Regina original. :)


My favorite part of the dining room is the French Doors... I fell in love with them when we looked at the house. The doors lead to a sunroom, which we use often as a "dining room". We bought a porch table and chairs and love sitting there to have dinner. The whole room in windows, so we get to eat "out" and love it!!! :)

Big girl!

I can't believe S is 6 1/2 months old. So wild! She is getting so big so fast... She has started to roll over, but doesn't do it a whole lot. She'll only roll over from her tummy to her back. Today I had her on her playmat and everytime I went to check on her, she was in a different spot. lol Her favorite toy lately is her rattle. She has a blast with it. Auntie Viv got her a Minnie mouse rattle that she really likes...
Our latest news is that we officially have her on a schedule! :) I've never put her on a schedule or a routine b/c she was different every day, and I couldn't handle it changing daily. But she made up her own daily routine. She was going to bed at 8:30, waking up at 7:30, eating at the same times... So I wrote it all down and we've kept up with it... It's really cool that she set her own routine. lol
She had her 6 month check up last week. She's grown 1 1/2 inches in 2 months... She's now 27 inches long. Wow! She is going to be a tall, skinny girl!!! :) Her 2 teeth are growing... And she loves to bite mommy when she eats. :) It's not pleasant... Her hair is also coming in more now, I can't wait to be able to give her some pigtails.. :) We are working on her sitting on her own. She can sit up with the aid of boppy pillows... And we feed her on her bumbo seat. We tried the high chair a few days ago, but she's still sliding on that one b/c she doesn't really know how to sit yet... We'll keep working on it. lol
We gave her rice cereal for the first time on Saturday, for breakfast. She likes it.. So far the only thing she hasn't like is peas. lol Who can blame her?!

2 Teeth!

Yesterday I celebrated my first mother's day. M and S woke me up, and gave me my gift. My hubby gave me the sweetest card, and then put together a movie of our pictures of the past 6 years. We watched the movie and I cried. lol I've already watched the movie 4 times and cried every single time. It's so amazing to see how much has changed in our lives in the almost 6 years we've been together. God has blessed us so much. After that, we got ready and they took me to breakfast. I was given a choice and chose Panera's. Love it there!!! Then church... After the service, M was carrying S and went to see our good friend Michele, he wanted to see her new baby. He then comes running to me as if something were wrong, I start panicking. He tells me "look, S has teeth"... lol Our friend Michele noticed her teeth, how did we miss that?! lol She has 2 in the bottom coming in, one is already out, but just the tip. The other is coming right behind it. Those toofies are so cute, and highly painful when feeding her. :) So, how did we miss the teeth coming in?! There have been no symptoms whatsoever... No runny nose, no fever, no fussy, nothing! I'm so happy! :) Her little teeth coming in on Mother's day was the best gift! I keep looking at them. :) My little baby is growing way too fast!

6 months old!

I can hardly believe it. My baby is 6 months old today. Every month I say this, but time is flying by. We are loving watching Story grow. Each day she becomes more and more fun, and becomes her own little person. Some landmarks to remember today, well she's in size 2 diapers!!! She can wear 6-9 months clothes, but alas, not around her waist... She is tall and skinny, like her daddy. White looks great on her! She loves reaching for things now. Anytime something interesting in is front of her, she grabs it. Sometimes she even throws herself to get the item, ie, remote control, ipods, cell phones... Her favorite thing to lunge for?! Benjamin. She love "petting" him. Daddy is teaching her how to be a bit nicer to him and not grab his fur... And since I am extremely OCD, I follow her around with the germX bottle... The same hands that touch the cat, goes in her mouth, so they must be cleaned! Everyone says S is a happy baby. She loves to smile! Her favorite foods: applesauce, sweet potato, puffs! :)

I love my girl more and more each day and I love that I get to be her mommy!!!

While mommy's at work...

... The kids will play!! :) I work 2 days a week, thankfully, my wonderful hubby has those 2 days off work, so he stays home with S. We are so thankful that we don't have to leave S in a daycare and that we both get to spend time with her and raise her ourselves.

So, this past week, while I was at work, daddy decided to make a trip to his favorite store, Books-A-Million. He took some pictures of S's first trip there. I thought it was so sweet that he wanted to document this occasion!!!
