3's

Last week my sweet baby girl turned 3 and baby sister turned 3 months old, all happened on Nov 3rd.
We had an intimate dinner, just our little family of 4 to celebrate her birthday. I made yellow rice and black beans and chicken quesadillas. I also made strawberry cupcakes which she was totally excited about. She got to blow out a candle and open her presents.

Putting sprinkles on her cupcakes..

She was so excited!

My big 3 month old!

I LOVE my girls and am so thankful for them!

6 weeks

It's hard to believe that baby sister is 6 weeks old today. Time sure is flying!!!
We saw the doctor this week because I thought she had a rash, it turns out she just has really bad baby acne. It's driving me crazy b/c it's everywhere! Poor baby.
At 6 weeks she weighs 11 lbs and is 22 1/4 inches long. She's our big girl. Our oldest is very tall, so baby sister's height does not surprise me. Though I keep wondering how we make such big babies. lol I call her my little chunk! :)

I had a photoshoot with her at 4 weeks, this is one of my favorites :)

Sister love

My 6 week old

This was one of the first outfits I bought her.. LOVE it and love her in purple.

1 month

It's hard to believe that my baby girl is 1 month old today. It is flying by, and I always say this, but it's bittersweet. It's so different to have a second child. It's fun to enjoy her and watch my firstborn enjoy her. She loves her little sister so much, it is amazing to watch them. It'll be a really fun experience to watch them grow together.

At 1 month, baby sister is not on a consistant schedule. Some days I feel like a novice at the baby thing, I don't remember the hardships from my first baby. lol Baby sister eats anywhere every 2-3 hours, which has made it difficult to set her on a schedule. At nights she's been all over the place. I don't wake her up, so she has nights where she'll wake up every 4 hours, others every 2, sometimes she'll sleep 5 hours, eat, then not wake up again till morning.. So it's been hard. My goal for next week is to start getting her on a schedule, I will spend the next few days trying to see if she can go 3 hours during the day. We've been successful at keeping her awake after each feeding, she'll stay up anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour. A few nights ago I was talking to her and she talked back for the first time, it was so cute. It was just sweet coos, but of course I completely melted. lol

At 1 month, Baby sister:
weighs 10 lbs (birth weight was 7.15)
is in size 1 diapers, which she started wearing at 3 weeks mainly b/c we ran out of nb and had a box of 1's at home. lol
is outgrowing nb clothes
likes to be rocked to sleep
loves her swing
loves her mama's arms :)

I LOVE this picture of me w/ my girls.

I have set a goal of taking pictures of the girls daily :) It is not always easy and I have yet to take a picture of the 2 of them that I absolutely love. B/t the energetic toddler and the sleepy newborn, it's impossible to get a good shot. But I will keep trying!

adjusting?!

This past week, hubby went back to work. Starting on Wednesday, I became a full time mom of 2, on my own. The first day was great, we hung out, I gave each girl undivided attention, it was good. After that I've slowly started getting overwhelmed. Thankfully I married superman! He comes home from work ready to help out. Our toddler is VERY active and non stop talking. As soon as he comes home, he takes over w/ her (she doesn't even give me a chance to talk to daddy first) they play games, talk... It's adorable. He's been helping out w/ the house and is always willing to do whatever I need him to do.

Baby sister used to sleep 5-6 hours per night, wake up, eat for 20-30 minutes, go to sleep. At her 2 week mark this past week (same day daddy went back to work) she decided that it's more fun to wake up every 3-4 hours at night and stay up for 2 hours for no reason at all. I don't want to complain b/c I know she is still doing pretty good. Our first daughter did the same thing, but every 2 hours and I never got sleep. Right now I'll get 2-3 hours of interrupted sleep. Overall I'll get 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Ok I am the type of person that NEEDS at least 8 hours. So 5 hours is NOT cutting it for me. I know some moms would love to be in my shoes, but I am looking forward to sleeping through the night again. lol

Ok, well I started this post twice, and everytime baby starts crying, so I guess I need to get her :)
Overall, life is good, it'll be a slow adjustment. I have to keep reminding myself that it's only been 2 weeks. I feel like I should have our routine perfected by now, but I know it'll take time.

2 weeks

Today baby sister is 2 weeks old. Hard to believe that it's been that long. It seems like yesterday I laid in that OR table and welcomed her into this world. I hate how fast time flies and am trying to enjoy every minute I can with my tiny baby. I know it'll fly by. My first baby is almost 3. Yikes!

It's been an amazing time. Big sister is in love and awe of baby and is SO good with her. The only problem we've had is when I'm nursing and big sister wants to play. She insists on me putting her sister down so I can play with her. It's gotten better, but over all she's adjusted really well and am so proud!

She also loves to hold baby sister. I am always ready with the camera for pictures of the 2 of them :)

At 2 weeks, baby sister
weighs 8 lbs (birth weight was 7.15 lbs)
20 3/4" long (birth length was 20")
wears size nb diapers
wears size nb clothes

She is very petite, or at least more petite than big sister. She has a full head of black hair. On the left side, above her ear, she has a patch of blonde hair. Her eyelashes are also blonde. Kinda funny, but I love it. It makes her unique :)
Yesterday we had her 2 week check up and I drove and it was just the 2 of us while daddy stayed home with sister. It was my first outing w/out daddy.. I've healed quick and really well. Thank God!
I'm excited to see my girls grow up together, but hopefully it'll slow down a bit. lol

8-3-11

On the morning of August 3rd, our lives were forever changed. Our 2nd princess entered this world at 8:08 am, weighing 7 lbs 15 oz and measuring at 20". She was almost her sister's size, big sister was 7.12 lbs and 20 1/4" long.

I went in for a scheduled c-section. I have to be honest, I was very anxious that whole week and was not excited about her birth. I mean, I was, but I was so worried about my firstborn that I couldn't focus on my 2nd born. I had NEVER been apart from big sister, and it was killing me to be away from her for 2 days. BUT we dropped her off at a friend's house early on Wednesday morning and headed to the hospital. At that point, I was a bit emotional, but I knew she was well taken care of and excitement began to hit. we waited and I got set up with IV's and what not, then waited for the doctor to get there. It felt like forever. I just wanted to meet my baby girl. When you have a c-section, you wait in the preop room, there were 3 beds, and 2 of us in there. The beds are seprated by curtains. Hubby and I waited and then we got a text from family saying they had arrived. I originally had decided not to see anyone before the surgery, but I knew they were all anxious to see me. So the nurses let them come to the back, I got hugs from everyone and then they went back to waiting room.

My doctor finally came in and said he was ready. At that point, I stood up and the nurses gave me an anti-acid thing to drink. Now, side note, with my first daughter I was nauseous and sick that entire first day b/c of the anesthesia, and I begged my doctor to do everything he could so that this would not happen again. SO I had a patch behind my ear for anti nausea, plus 2 anti-acids. Then they asked me to drink this nasty drink. Ok, everything in me said I shouldn't but I did. And threw it all up on the floor of the preop room. I had my husband and 3 nurses just staring at me as I stood there, helpless. The antiacid burned my throat, I couldn't speak, I couldn't breathe. It was awful. They finally walk me to the OR where my child would be born. At this point I could speak, but my throat was still burning. At this point, I also was separated from my husband. That is the HARDEST part! They gave me the spinal and got me ready for surgery. My doctor came in, but no husband. I freaked and started asking the nurses for him. He came in with his cell phone playing "Don't stop believing" and those who are closest to us will get the importance of the song. ;) The entire surgery was awesome! We had Journey songs playing, the nurses and doctor were having a blast and I was laughing and talking the entire time. I felt tugging and pulling and knew the doctor was taking out the baby. I was dying to see her! When she was out I asked if she had hair, for some reason I knew she would, my first daughter was bald. My doctor said, she has a full head of hair. :) They finally brought her to me and took off her hat, she indeed has a full head of black hair. :)

They then took her and hubby to the nursery and me to recovery. I was fully alert, awake, and feeling great. Now I just had to wait to move my legs, then they'd bring me my baby. It was very boring, but finally they brought hubby and baby to me. I got to nurse her, we took some pictures. Then they took her away. It was very quick b/c they still hadn't bathed her. When she first went into the nursery her temps were low, so they had her under the warmers, then instead of giving her a bath, they brought her to me to nurse.

I went into my room as soon as I could lift my legs. Now I had to move from one bed to the other and it was comical. I had both nurses laughing. I had NO control over my right leg. Moving to the bed was pretty funny... Once I accomplished that, hubby came in and his friend Justin had come to see us. They brought us the baby and it was wonderful. It felt like the last 9 months were all a dream. She was so tiny and cuddly. And I LOVE her full head of hair. My mom and sister came to visit. Then we had some other visitors. I have to say that since I was on morphine, a lot of details are fuzzy. lol

Daddy left in the afternoon to get big sister. She walked in and had no idea what was happening. We showed her baby sister (we had explained the night before that the doctor was going to take sister out of mommy's belly). She accepted baby sister very quickly and immediately asked if she could hold her. :) The sweetest moment ever was seeing my 2 girls meet.
That night daddy and big sister went home to sleep and mommy and baby stayed, of course. lol That night I barely slept. I had baby on my chest the whole night and loved it! but b/t the buzzing of machines and nurses coming in and out, I barely slept. Thursday morning my mom came to stay with me and kept begging me to sleep, but it was not possible b/c of nurses and staff coming in and out. I had my room cleaned twice that day and drove me nuts!

Thursday night and Friday morning I had no visitors, that's when I finally slept, a lot! Baby slept on my chest, which I loved every minute of it! Then we went home around 1 pm. I LOVED getting to go home. I loved having our family of 4 together. Big sister has done a great job, she is very attentive to baby sister. She always wants to help and she is so good. She's made us proud. :) We love our family of 4 and know that we are blessed!

37 today

Today marks 37 weeks! I can hardly believe it! We are busy getting everything ready. I have been nesting like crazy, keeping the house clean, keeping up with the laundry and such... I've washed all the baby clothes, put everything away... This weekend I'd like to set up the pack and play, swing and bouncy seats. They're all still in the garage. lol I'd also like to clean out the car and buy the car seat. Yes we have no car seat. hahaha Well, technically we do, we can use big sister's old one. BUT we need a different brand, we have a peg perego, but we were given a graco double stroller and so now we need to buy a graco. Which is fine. Other than that, we are ready! Bags are packed, cameras are charged. :) We're anxious and excited.
I am dreading the 3 day hospital stay b/c I have never been away from my daughter and the thought of spending a couple nights away from her just kill me. I hate it and I can't even think about it w/out wanting to cry. I look at her and already miss her. :( At least at nighttime she'll be home w/ daddy and she will sleep in her own bed. I just hate that I won't be here to tuck her in and kiss her goodnight. :(

Well, I'm feeling every bit of the 37 weeks. I LOVE being pregnant, but we are ready to meet our baby girl and I am ready to not be so uncomfortable.

Here is a comparison shot. My first daughter at 35 weeks vs. my 2nd daughter 36 weeks

36 weeks today...

Today I am 36 weeks. Seems so surreal. Hubby and I are getting anxious and so excited. I KNOW that she's coming, but up to this point, I feel like it's not really happening. But with her arrival so close, it's finally starting to become real. There are baby clothes everywhere :) We are trying to make space in the house for her.. The girls will share a room, but in the beginning baby sister will be sleeping in her pack and play in our room.

The pregnancy is going well. Thankfully there have been no more contractions or scares. I cannot wait to meet this little girl. Par of me hopes these next weeks go by slow b/c I LOVE being pregnant :) BUT I am SO ready to meet my second daughter. :)

35 weeks

I can hardly believe that it's July! Soon our baby will here and I cannot wait to hold her. I think the most exciting part will be having my girls meet for the first time. It's so exciting!

The pregnancy has been going ok. Just taking it easy these days. At 31 weeks I ended up in the hospital with dehydration and contractions. I never experienced contractions w/ my first pregnancy, so this was all new territory to me. I spent the morning timing my contractions, they were anywhere from 3-7 minutes apart. Then I started getting sick. So hubby came home, and shortly thereafter we headed for the doctor. By the time I go to the hospital, my contractions were 1 minute apart. Thankfully after lots of fluid and monitoring, I was sent home. I took it easy for the rest of the week, anytime I did too much the contractions would return. Things are better now, but I'm still taking it slow. In a few short weeks baby sister will be here and everything will return to normal...

We are working on getting everything ready in the house. Today baby girl will get her new big girl bed. I'm so excited! She is so excited and has been asking for it for days. lol I'm really anxious to get their room set up and have 2 beds in there. :)

Well, not much else is going on.. We hit 35 weeks tomorrow, it's flown by and it's bittersweet...

3rd trimester

I can hardly believe that we have started the end. I'm so excited to meet my little girl, I can't wait to see who she'll look like. lol Everything has been going really well, all the pelvic pain I had in the beginning has come back, but thankfully it hasn't been as bad as it was before. Baby girl is very excited to meet baby sister. lol We're slowly getting the house ready for 2 kids, hopefully we'll have time to do everything that needs to be done. lol

updates...

Things are getting along great... We are almost at 25 weeks and I am now very obviously showing. We are so excited for baby sister's arrival, and there's a little someone here who can't wait to meet her sister. :) She thinks every baby out there is her baby sister. lol I've started getting their room changed, very slowly, in a few weeks we'll get all the furniture in place. We're putting baby sister in our crib, which means big sis gets a big girl bed. We were blessed w/ a bed for her, hubby has to stain it, then she'll get her new bed. I'm excited and nervous to put her in the big girl bed, but I think she'll love it.

This past weekend was Easter, my husband and I spent the day putting together our new bedroom furniture. In a couple weeks our room will be completed and I can focus my attention on the girls room. I LOVE our new furniture, from Ikea. I will post pix once the room is all done.

Other than that, nothing else is going on...

21 weeks

Here we are, 21 weeks, 19 to go. Feels like it's flying by. I've been exhausted, and in a lot of pain. I am thankful for good days, but they are few... Baby girl is so excited to have a baby sister. She is constantly asking to see her baby sister. lol I've been going crazy anytime I go shopping. :) I love buying girl clothes and shoes. I've bought baby sister a couple dresses and can't wait to see her in it! Right now my main concern is getting the house ready for her arrival. Hubby and I have been redoing our room for the past year (sad I know). We are in the process of looking for some furniture for our room... I'm also looking for an armoire for the girls room. They are sharing a room. :) I'm so excited to have everything ready.

As of now not much going on. Baby sister is a kicker, very active. Baby girl was not active at all, lol so it's quiet a change. I've started to show a little bit, but not much. This pregnancy is going by so fast! I am so excited to meet this little one and can't wait for the sisters too meet. :)

We're so excited to announce...

...That our newest addition is a baby girl! :) Our daughter is so excited to get a baby sister, it's all she's talked about. She loved seeing the baby on the monitor during the ultrasound. It was so exciting to hear that we'll be having another girl; more pink, more bows, more dresses... We are so excited!!!! :) And we don't have a name yet. It's been very hard to find a girl name the 2nd time around. lol

Today

Today at 4 pm we will find out if our princess will have a baby sister or a brother. :) I'm so excited I can hardly believe it!!!
Tomorrow I'll be 18 weeks, it's gone by so fast!
Here I am at 17 weeks:

2 week countdown...

Today we've hit 16 weeks! Wow it's gone by fast. I've started to show, it feels like I've been showing since day one. lol Maternity clothes are out, and I actually need to buy more. lol I can't believe we're at 4 months, it's just flying by! In 2 weeks, we'll find out what we're having. I cannot wait, that part feels like it's taking forever. We feel blessed with a second baby and honored that God chose to bless us with more children. It doesn't matter what we're having. Although for some reason baby girl calls the baby her baby sister. lol Anytime we talk about the baby, it's "baby sister". If we say it could be baby brother she gets mad. She doesn't even know the difference b/t a brother or sister, so it's pretty funny. lol We'll see...
Not much else going on, we will start some house redecorations in a few weeks, starting with our very old and outdated bedroom. lol Then move on to the nursery. It'll be busy and exciting times.

Happy Valentine's Day!

My little Valentine :) I made her this dress last year, and it still fits! She got tons of compliments today!
Daddy surprised mommy w/ her favorite flowers, tulips and chocolates. PLUS 2 autographed copies of his comic books, which I WAITED forever for :) Then he gave his little valentine her own flowers, she loves it!!! Such a good daddy!!!

Coffee Time

Last year for my birthday, my husband surprised me with the best gift! I LOVE coffee, love trying different flavors... One of my friends had a keurig and I loved it! So my husband gave me one. Every morning I have a cup of coffee and love pushing my little "brew" button. This is truly my favorite thing in the house! :) I love picking out new coffee to buy. Right now as I type this, my keurig is warming up and I am trying to decide which coffee to drink. I do need to order some more, so I'll have to visit their website soon.
How about you? Are you a coffee lover?

And I want to say that my green counter tops are finally gone and replace w/ beautiful marble :)

House work

With another baby coming, there's a lot of stuff we need to get done in the house to prepare. We have a 3 bedroom house, but it's small. And the 3rd bedroom serves as our office/craft/ everything else room. If the baby is a boy, we'll have to find space in the house to store all our office and craft stuff and turn the office into a nursery. If the baby is a girl, she'll share a room w/ our toddler and we'll turn the sunroom into a playroom. Either scenario is stressful, but also exciting. :)
We will know the sex of the baby in exactly 4 weeks. I can't wait to know so we can get stuff ready. On top of the nursery, we'll also have to redo our bedroom (it's been in a remodeling phase for a year), finish the kitchen and I'm not sure what else. lol
I'm excited to get some stuff done in the house. I think I'm mostly excited about our bedroom. My friend Sarah has TONS of ideas for a room remodel, but it's been on hold for many many months. lol My goal is to get that done by April.
I guess that's just all stuff that has been in my mind..

I've been absent

For the past 3 weeks or so, I've been pretty much home bound. Why?! Long story, so here goes!
At 10 weeks pregnant, I started showing signs of a miscarriage. It was over a weekend, so I spoke to the oncall doc who put me on bedrest until I saw my doctor on Monday. The weekend DRAGGED and finally I saw my doctor on Monday. God answered our prayers, and we saw the most beautiful heartbeat in the world. Hubby and I were ready for the worst news, and no matter what, we wanted God's will to be done. We were relieved that He chose to continue to bless us w/ this little baby. My doctor kept me on bedrest for the week and then after that I'd be fine. Ha! 2 weeks went by and I continued to be in horrible pain, all in my pelvic area and whatnot.

Now I am not a wimp by any means, but the pain is so great that it hurts to walk, sit or even lay down. I just live w/ the pain. I finally saw my doctor again last week and described everything to him. He said that this normally happens at the end of pregnancy. This is what he said: The pelvis is made up of several bones that are jointed in a way that usually does not allow any movement. Under the influence of hormones produced in pregnancy, the cartilage of the joints becomes softer and allows the bones to move. Basically my bones are rubbing together...He said it's like having arthritis in that area (temporarily, it'll go away after birth)... So I deal w/ the pain, all around my pelvic bone, back, sciatic, thighs, hips... Nothing can be done, I can take tylenol, but that doesn't do much for me. The more activity I do, the worst the pain gets. And by activity I mean, cleaning, picking up my toddler, walking... Sigh It's all worth it! :) The BEST news, is that it'll only get worse as the pregnancy progresses (sarcasm). lol

I hadn't really told anyone about this or blogged about it b/c I didn't think anyone would understand. It sounds so silly when I say it, but it's a real condition, with a name (which of course I don't remember). I feel stupid for being so limited b/c of this. But the pain is very severe, to the point that I can't even walk at times. Where the pain is located makes it almost impossible to do much of anything. BUT the baby is safe, so I've started to get out of the house more. It's very difficult to sit in a car, or much of anywhere for long. BUT I have cabin fever, and I miss going to church.. I want to get baby girl out of the house too. So although I'm still limited in what I can do, mainly b/c doing anything increases the pain, I will try to lead as much of a normal life as possible.

So there it goes. lol The main reason I've been absent from church and everything lately is b/c of bedrest/ being in too much pain to walk anywhere...

And lastly, here's the reason for it all!

10 weeks

These weeks have gone by so fast. Yesterday I realized that I am 10 weeks pregnant already. Seems so much faster the second time. Probably because I'm so busy with my toddler, I don't have as much time to sit and ponder about this little one. lol We are very excited and have been talking names and such. We don't agree on ANY names! I'm sure it'll come to us at some point, just like our daughter's name did.
So far our pregnancy has been normal. Our biggest fear right now is me having gestational diabetes. I had it at the end of my first pregnancy and my chances are high to have it this time. My blood sugar in the beginning was very high, but now that I've been avoiding the carbs and junk, I've been feeling better. I have no desire to eat. I only crave Mexican, more specifically queso, more specifically Moe's. lol LOVE it. I could eat it ALL day, everyday! Lately I've been craving coke, but I need to avoid the sugar.
I've also been so exhausted, I've had very little energy. I'm hoping to have some of it back when I get out of the first trimester. We shall see. I am counting down to 12 weeks. lol
Please be in prayer for us that we don't have GD. I'll have the glucose test done early, within this month, whenever I finally build up the courage to go. lol I hate needles!
Here is a picture of our little blob at 7 weeks. I call is the blob b/c our first sono was at 6 weeks 4 days and all I saw was this perfect little circle, it was the sac. Then we went at 7 weeks and there was a heartbeat. I also had a sono at 8 weeks 3 days (or something like that) and it was starting to look more like a baby. Can't wait to see it next time at 12 weeks. :)
